Latin: A New Grammar
Book of Exercises

A book of exercises for both absolute beginners and students who already have a sound knowledge of the language but need to revise and enhance it.

Title:                         Latin: A New Grammar
Subtitle:                    Book of Exercises
ISBN:                        978-0-9571387-3-5
Number of pages:    363
Printed by:                CreateSpace  (South Carolina, USA)
Printed in:                 South Carolina (USA), United Kingdom and continental Europe

As I specify in my Grammar itself, students are supposed to learn the language by means of some coursebook (Oxford Latin Course, Wheelock's Latin, etc.) and not through a grammar, which should be used just for consultation purposes of concrete grammatical points. For the same reason, this book is supposed to be for those that look for practical exercises in order to reinforce any given grammatical point or even all grammar in general, but it is not supposed to replace any coursebook.

Although in the corresponding sub-pages of this site you can find more concrete information on the characteristics of the book, I would like to offer here a summary of them (this is the same information that can be seen on the back cover of the book):

• ALL CRUCIAL GRAMMAR: Around 900 exercises covering all crucial aspects of Latin grammar.

• EXERCISES FOR ALL LEVELS: All types of exercises, easy and difficult ones: from simple exercises of declining nouns to complicated ones requiring the
   combination of sentences,
changing structures, etc.

• CLEAR STRUCTURE: Division into different blocks: the nominal system, the verbal system, syntax of cases and syntax of clauses, with subdivisions in
each of these for clear presentation.

• QUESTIONS ON BASIC VOCABULARY: Questions on basic vocabulary relating to each grammatical item: most frequent verbs, most frequent adjectives,
   most frequent adverbs, etc.

• USE OF ORIGINAL AUTHORS: Around 2,100 sentences taken from classical authors, with the author and work quoted.

• ADAPTABLE TO ANY LATIN GRAMMAR OR LANGUAGE COURSE: Although written using the author’s own Latin grammar as a structural guideline, this
book of exercises can be used by any student following another grammar for consultation.
